Microchipping

We recommend microchipping as an easy and effective way of ensuring your pet’s identity if it gets lost. It is a simple procedure which causes no ill effects on your pet.

All vets and most pet rescue societies carry microchip scanners. Identification is instantaneous, and owners can often be informed that their pet has been found before they realise that it was lost.

The procedure is also required for the identification of all pets that may be undergoing the Pet Passport Scheme or export outwith the UK. Tattoos while allowed in some circumstances, are no longer favoured.

There is an annual microchipping discount month for the Month of June. At this time the cost of microchipping is half of the standard price. More details shall appear on the webpage nearer the time.

There is also a discount for microchipping if carried out to coincide with a general anaesthetic, such as for neutering. The cost at present is £19.08.
