When a client enters the Veterinary Centre at Pollokshaws he or she will find a bright waiting-room and reception area, which are controlled by our receptionists Mairi and Dot. Here your details and those of your pet will be recorded on to our database and an appointment arranged with one of the veterinary surgeons or veterinary nurses.

There are two consulting rooms and veterinary appointments run every morning from 9.00 a.m. until 12.30 p.m. and then from 4.00 p.m. until 7.00 p.m.

On Saturday appointments are fom 9.00 a.m. until 12.30 p.m., and on Sunday from 10.30 a.m. until 12 noon.

In addition to the appointments with our veterinary surgeons we also arrange special appointments with our nursing staff to cover such matters as behaviour, special diets, and instructions for home nursing for your pets.

Immediately behind the reception area is the practice dispensary and laboratory. A wide range of laboratory tests are conducted in-house and in most cases test results can be reported to the client in a matter of minutes.

There is a kennel area with 17 kennels for holding animals who are undergoing treatment, and before and after operations. 6 of these kennels are set apart from the rest to provide a quiet stress free area for cats and small furry pets. 6 of the kennels are easily adapted to enable us to provide intensive care for your pet.

Adjacent to the kennel area is the pre-op preparation room and this leads on to our dedicated operating theatre which is used for all major operations. In addition we have a second operating theatre with a dedicated dental suite with an area for performing less sterile operations e.g. wound cleaning, ear syringes, etc.

Next to the dental operating theatre is our Imaging Suite which has a modern X-ray and Ultra-sound units. This unit is lead lined to conform to the highest standards of safety and once again many X-rays and Ultra-sound examinations can be carried out while the client waits and results reported very quickly.

Last but not least we have our open-plan office area which is controled by our senior veterinary nurse and practice manageress Susan Maclean. This is the area where we deal with pet-insurance claims, arrange referrals to specialists and meet with representatives from pharmaceutical firms.

The surgery has 6 linked computer terminals which in turn are linked to the two computer terminals at our Branch surgery in Crookfur. We have 5 telephone land lines connecting us to our client base and all members of staff have mobile telephones.

Our Branch Surgery is called Crookfur Pet Health Centre and is run by our receptionist Amanda Thom, assisted by Carol Herald. There is a waiting room, a consulting room, and a holding area for pets which are to be transported to Pollokshaws for tests or operations. There are two telephone land lines and as mentioned before two computer terminals which are linked to Pollokshaws.
